This year marks 20 years since the Foundation Angel Program was started. The inspiration for the Foundation Angel Program began with my father. Twenty years ago, after watching him battle Stage 4 Lung cancer that came without any warning, and experiencing firsthand the emotional and practical challenges families face, I knew I wanted to create something meaningful from that loss. His journey became the inspiration behind a program dedicated to providing comfort, support, and hope to others facing similar challenges.
Losing a loved one to cancer is an incredibly difficult journey because you first feel shock over the diagnosis, then denial, then anger, and then regret. All these emotions come because it is so out of our control, because we all want to be in control. Cancer does not discriminate over age, sex or race. Thankfully, our Angel Team Leaders walk alongside families and help them navigate this a new normal, knowing there is nothing normal about it. We provide them with practical help, financial help and advocate on their behalf.
On October 9th, we will host our 20th annual “Evening of Hope” gala and will be a night to celebrate the work done by so many amazing volunteers, businesses and supporters who have been a part of this journey. It will be a somber reminder that through pain comes purpose and that no matter what you are going through, you are never alone.
Leading up to the event, we will be sharing 20 stories of families served over the past 20 years.
We hope you will be a part of this inspirational night.
